"The Wetter the Better"
Saturday 14th August 2010
Falkirk Round Table joined dozens of charitable organisations in Falkirk town centre last Saturday for the annual charities day organised by Falkirk Business Improvement District and Falkirk Rotary Club.
Members of Falkirk Round Table once again put themselves in the firing line – sticking their heads through some colourful stocks to await a pelting from wet sponges.
Chairman Scott Cunningham told the Falkirk Herald, “It was a good day, we do it every year. We don’t really do it as a big fundraising day; it’s mainly a day to raise our profile and awareness of the causes we support.
“The boys don’t mind sticking their head through the hole and getting hit by sponges – they give a bit of patter to the crowds, saying things to women like it doesn’t matter how close you stand, you’ll miss anyway.
“We did raise £200 on the day and that will go into our community services fund to help local good causes who get in contact with us.”
